Striving to provide the best customer service means we have gone to great lengths to ensure we have the right staff, with the right skills, in the right positions. The team consists of qualified staff who receive ongoing training to ensure that they are always up to speed with the latest technology and initiatives. Team is the word we use literally to describe ourselves. Keeping our team happy means that we maintain positive attitudes and a friendly working environment, which in turn, impacts on the service we provide to our customers. The team usually consists of between 10-20 people; dependent on the number of projects we have on at one time. Here are
some of our key personnel - our management team, office team
and our electrical team. Working as an electrician for the past 15 years, Tony has worked in a variety of different industries from the tobacco through to Guinness Breweries in London. Finding his own niche in the market, Tony discovered there was a lack of industrial specialists providing quality electrical services - and so the birth of 3 Phase. Whilst managing the company, and the team, Tony also likes to keep up with the changes in technology, so works closely with the team. An avid follower
of rugby, super-cross and car racing, in his spare time he also enjoys
wining and dining, listening to music, collecting watches and tinkering
with his Kawasaki KDX200 dirtbike. His dream car is a Porsche and one
of his goals in life is to purchase a classic 911, manufactured around
the 70s. Michael trained at a local company, National Can Ltd (ex AHI metal containers) where he took on the role of charge hand electrician for a 12-year period. Michael saw a number of changes take place in regard to the complete automation of production lines, rationalisation projects leading to complete plant relocation in 1997, and energy conservation projects. Finally leading to being made redundant in 1999, Michael started his own electrical company, sub-contracting to a number of local industrial sites including his previous employer and then joined our team in April 2001. In 2000 he travelled to England/Europe and spent the summer drag racing at a number of local events in an American muscle car that he has owned and rebuilt over the past 9 years or so. In his spare time, Michael likes to keep fit by running and swimming. He also enjoys the nightlife and finds himself out on the town with friends for a drink or two. On a quieter
note, Michael also likes to use his spare time renovating his house for
himself, his partner Andrea, her daughter Casey and his children, Jordan
and Holly who he enjoys spending the most of his weekend days with, doing
kids stuff. Lorraine has worked for 3 Phase Electrical on a part-time then full-time basis for the past three years. Prior to this, she worked at National Mutual for five years in a Product and Promotion Management role marketing mortgage products to insurance agents and brokers. Working in the financial services industry Lorraine recognises the need to, not only obtain new customers, but most importantly look after the customers you already have. Lorraine believes that customer expectations are increasing and that providing quality efficient service is essential for the success of any business today. Lorraine enjoys eating out a lot, listening to music, watching great movies and attending theatre productions. However, her favourite pastime by far, or as Tony would say addiction, is shopping. She tries to keep fit by attending regular thai-fit aerobics classes and also enjoys fishing, Asian cooking, four wheel driving (in her Jeep Cherokee), quad motorbiking and Rarotongan holidays. OFFICE
TEAM Amy is our newest team member, starting in July 2002. She has been working in office administration for the past three years, her last employers being Roadfreighters. In her spare time, Amy enjoys walking her dog, mountain bike riding, surfing the internet, and every girls favourite hobby – shopping. Back to topELECTRICAL TEAM
Brian worked at Southward Engineering for 7 years before deciding to work for himself. He has now worked for 3 Phase Electrical for the past 7 years as a full-time team member but has been working in the electrical services industry for over 25 years. Brian is highly thought of by those he works with – Managers, factory workers and team members alike. Brian’s ongoing life project is to renovate his home – however this seems to be taking a considerable amount of time. Renown for cutting plugs of electrical appliances when he thinks power is being abused, sometimes makes him unpopular with other members of the household.
Gary is a new addition to the 3 Phase team, joining in January 2003. Gary comes to us with vast experience working with generator sets, building management systems and all facets of industrial field. When not spending time with his partner, Delyse and three children, Gary enjoys working on computers, electronics and enjoys following most sports.
Dave has spent the past 12 years working within the commercial and industrial fields working with all forms of designing, building, installing and maintaining electrical installations. A lot of this time he has specialised in the refitting of laboratories, including the HVAC and BMS controls for these areas. Dave has also been involved in hazardous areas and controls. Married for six years to Maree, they have three children, Melanie (5), Victoria (3), and Matthew (5 months). As a keen fisherman (both salt and fresh water), he tries to sneak off whenever family time allows him to do a spot of fishing. He is also a keen scuba diver and dives for crayfish – this passion even meant a holiday to the Chatham Islands a few years back to target the largest cray he had ever “captured”. Dave is a member of the Wellington Surfcasting and Angling Club and the Gracefield Toastmasters Club.
Les joined 3 Phase Electrical in June 2003. He has had a wide range of experience in the trade, being self-employed for 17 years and as an inspector for 10 years with The Hutt Valley Energy Board. A lot of this time he has specialised in the refitting of laboratories, including the HVAC and BMS controls for these areas. Les has also been involved in hazardous areas and controls. His spare time revolves around Car and Motorcycle Clubs, Caravan Club and Judo Club, competing in Masters competitions in Kata displays.
Mike worked for 3 Phase for 14 months during Year 2 of his apprenticeship, through the Electrical Training Company. He has now joined the 3 Phase team, on a permanent basis, and has been with us since November 1999. Mike comes to us, with electrical experience in most fields but mostly commercial and a brief period of data communications and card access systems. In his spare time, Mike plays senior level rugby for Wainuiomata, indoor cricket and indoor soccer. And after all this strenuous activity, he ventures out for the occasional Dominion Breweries finest draught. Hangovers are not recommended for the weekends when he gets to spend time with his 3-year-old son, Callum. Zoltan joined the 3 Phase team in August 1998. He is a very hard worker, keen and full of enthusiasm and has experience in all fields, with industrial being by far the most challenging and interesting. A very competent electrician, he has a great future in the electrical industry. Zoltan enjoys spending his leisure time on his Playstation or surfing the net when he gets time out from his wife Donna of ten years and his three wonderful daughters – Skye, Cody and Zoe. Recently purchasing his first home means weekends are also spent on repairs and renovations.
Scott joined the 3 Phase team in November 2002 as a second year Electrical Apprentice. He has completed two years and Level 2 and 3 of his Apprenticeship at the Wellington Institute of Technology. During his two years as an apprentice, Scott has gained experience in data cabling (structured cabling) and commercial electrical wiring including some UPS and DC installations. He has also had experience in working in corporate and construction site developments. In his spare time, Scott enjoys rugby and is a player and member of the Upper Hutt Rugby Club. He also enjoys dragon boat racing, snowboarding, tramping, hunting and fishing.
David started his career with Newbolds Appliance Services as an apprentice Appliance Serviceman. Once qualified he was looking for the next step, an opportunity arose at Building Plant Services to service Industrial/Commercial kitchen and laundry equipment. Due to a physical disability he was forced to retrain as a driver/storeman at Hutt Valley Cartage. In the 12 months he worked there, he was made 2nd in charge of the store and night runs up country and obtained various heavy vehicle licences. Looking to further himself he found an adult electrical apprenticeship with Electrical Process Development who focused on Industrial installations, maintenance and controls. He then moved to Tyco where he obtained vast experience in pumping controls and HVAC systems. David likes to spend his leisure time with his partner, Suzanne and 1-year-old son, Kane, playing computer games and pursuit of viewing motor racing.
Harvey has been involved in Project based work since leaving W R Grade, working in Sydney, Papua New Guinea and Perth, Western Australia. He took a year off to sail around the Mediterranean on a 50-foot catamaran, starting in Turkey and eventually wintering in the Canaries before returning to the United Kingdom. Harvey then spent seven years contracting in London and Europe before returning to Australia and then New Zealand. He likes to
spend as much time as he can with his Philippa and their two children,
Guy 10 and Zoe 6. He also enjoys sailing, house projects and entertaining.
